Notebook: Current Projects

Games currently in development- ordered in order of priority, but subject to change.

From 2018-2020 I focused on small games- but now I'm slowly easing myself back into developing longer games. There will be a bit of both!

I finish approximately 50% of the things I start.

Long-term projects:

Night Games

(started 2015) My primary project for a while, and one I am always thinking about. A game about goths... In space, playing ghost games

Super Erin Bun

(started 2021) Current primary project taking up a lot of my time- a long platformer following a character who's deserved their own game for a while. It's taking a while but it's a lot more polished than usual. It's gonna be good!

Secret Album

(started 2011) I've long wanted to make a heavy metal album. It lives in my head. I work on it nearly every day but it's slow cause I'm not very good at it. You'll hear it, some day

Secret Comic

(started 2013) This has been in development for so long and it's been revised in loads of ways both good and bad, but it's gonna be done at some point in a way I'm happy with. It's sci-fi/romance or something along those lines

Short-term projects & in-development minigames:

Legacy of Realms I: Realms of Darkfyre

(started 2018) Originally intended as a joke fantasy game, which eventually turned into a completely serious one. Spread out with annoying humour and deliberately low-res graphics, it's an epic story telling the tale of The Realms.

Witch's Bananas

(started 2020) Made with my brother doing textures and characters- it's, well, what it says on the tin. Witch's Bananas. What more do I have to explain? ...This game feels immensely fun as you can measure your speed out in interesting ways- picking up speed to launch yourself around the field for prime banana-collecting strategies.

Kate's Selfie Game

(started 2019) Use different keys to get all the parts of your body and face in the right place to take the perfect selfie.

Odyssey of the Mind

(started 2019) A Myst-like game where you click around surreal Minds-Eye-inspired environments looking for puzzles and clues. Much more of a focus on open-ended discovery than being locked into one puzzle and one route.

Devil Party

(started 2019) A game about one Halloween Party on one night. The game follows the "Devil Girls", a group of legendary supernatural party-crashers, as they show up uninvited, to make sure everything goes as planned.

Relax/Relapse

(started 2018) An attempt to make a game that felt like OCD. You try and make it through a board game, rolling the dice, but things can happen taht cause windows full of warioware-style microgames to stack up, and overwhelm you. Designed to be completely unfair, not for the faint hearted

Science and Faith

(started 2020) Fully abstract environment purporting to be pages of a book. Filled with curious people who you don't want anything to do with.

Spirit Spa

(started 2021) Inspired by "liminal spaces" of empty, dark, silent pools- an indoor pool complex full of mysterious secrets.

Disappear

(started 2019) Inspired by being trans in great britain... Follows a girl who wants to disappear from the world around her. But people keep gettin' in the way! And a bunch of neo-nazis have decided to take over the street and carry out vigilante attacks on trans people they see. It's a stealth game where you have to make sure no-one sees your boots.

"Bastards In The Sky"

(started 2020) A game about sky pirates looking to get revenge on an empire taking over the skies. By being, in their words, "bastards". Mostly an excuse for me to make a lot of pretty floating islands. Has a unique approach to navigation for one of my games where you traverse it via your flying ship and a grappling hook.

The Lost Serpent of Akraadodo

(started 2021) Back to where it all began... The very first game I seriously worked on, set in the mysterious Avian Aterlife of "Akraadodo", where extinct creatures and surreal landscapes live- This game is a soft reboot with a new protagonist and a better design approach that removes a lot of the excess features I tried to ram into the original.

Untitled Mermaid RPG

(started 2016) This game looked REALLY GOOD and STILL looks really good and I want to dig it up and finish it for that. It had beautiful 2D graphics and was going to be, well, an RPG about mermaids who went to a mermaid school.

Sandbox Hill High

(started 2019) A game set in a high school in a video game sandbox where you collect emblems by doing little tasks. Like a mario odyssey level in a single game. Hasn't run into trouble, I just haven't been able to work on it lately. The engine and character model were repurposed for Katelabs. It's close-ish to finishing but would need a few weeks of good dedication.

Offscene Dream World

(started 2016) Currently in limbo due to other projects taking my attention- a weird-looking place set in... A... Is it a dream? Maybe. It follows a schoolgirl walking around this place that mostly consists of a retail park full of weird faceless people. It's in an anime style

Fuck Mars

(started 2018) Working title, cause I started to become less fond of the profanity. It's a game that's part visual novel where you click around a big model of Mars, going on adventures and looking for things to do

Kate Barrett's Garden of Earthly Delights

(started 2017) A surreal garden that of course shares its name with a famous painting- I started it after completing "Ready Player Fuck" as a way of toying with similar environments but with a bit more of my personal spin.

Game for Myself 1

(started 2020) A game for, as the title suggests, ME! I wanted to make a bunch of second-life-like worlds that I could make for exploration purposes and hiding a few things in them and have no pressure to necessarily finish them. Worlds were accessed via a spherical planet hub.

Amy Rot's Gamey Rot

(started 2015) Immediatley after D.S.A I began working on this game, about another band of musicians. But it's very different to D.S.A. Set after a nuclear war that ripped the earth apart- the main characters live in a desert on what once was London, in a vault. Giant bacteria roam the land and you fight them with cleaning products. The plot mostly follows the characters's attempts to "hit it big" and make friends, more than any kind of serious plot!

Untitled 3D Erin Bun Game

(started 2020) I don't know if I'll continue working on this one now that Super Erin Bun has taken its place- but I will list it anyway cause I might work on it again!

Navigations

(started 2021) "Sail peacefully around a sea of islands collecting random stuff I found on my hard drive"
